The Challenge

As is the case for many companies, the IT infrastructure at Lenta had evolved with the many business activities and as such offered limited consistency, efficiency and functionality.

The legacy infrastructure included a Lotus Notes System, an ageing Server, no Calendar sharing and a non-uniform structure.

Lenta needed an 'office' environment that delivered email and calendar access from anywhere, tied into the latest Microsoft Office functionality.

Having modernised the Group?s IT environment, Lenta wanted to ensure that a robust solution was in place to ensure data integrity across all unique platforms.

The incumbent backup solution was based around tape technology and manual intervention. The tapes are often unreliable and expensive and the reliance upon an individual is an unfair risk.

The Solution

Softwerx migrated Lenta to Microsoft Office 365 incorporating, Windows 8, Server 2012 and direct access.

The solution included deploying Office 2013 to all workstations, providing vastly improved email functionality and an opportunity for rich collaboration.

Softwerx proposed the proven and comprehensive BaaS (Backup as a Service) from Databarracks. Opting for a dynamic backup strategy provided Lenta with the flexibility to retain a number of restore points, which can be recovered back to site, or on alternative hardware.

The Outcome

Lenta now has a modern IT infrastructure offering all of the benefits from Microsoft Office 365. The solution has advanced the business in terms of efficiency and collaboration?as well as reducing ongoing support costs.

Lenta now have a robust and comprehensive backup solution that reliably protects the organisations data. With the deduplication technology included in the service actual data storage requirements were a third of the data being protected, significantly reducing cost.
